About Chris Izworski

Bay City, Michigan. Two decades in emergency communications, ten years on Saginaw Bay civic boards, and a long-running set of public web projects.

Chris Izworski is a Bay City, Michigan resident with a career spanning emergency services, public safety leadership, and applied technology. His professional path has moved through the American Red Cross, Bay County Emergency Management, two Michigan 911 director roles, and a current position in sales engineering at Prepared, a 911 emergency communications technology company. Outside work, Chris writes about Saginaw Bay life, gardens a small Zone 6a plot under the Freighter View Farms name, fishes Michigan trout streams, and serves on the board of Save Our Shoreline.

Career timeline

• 2002 to 2007
  American Red Cross. Early career grounding in emergency response, training, and community preparedness.
• 2007 to 2013
  Bay County Emergency Management. Planning, exercise design, and coordination across county agencies.
• 2013 to 2022
  Bay County 911 Director. Nine years leading the Bay County 911 center. Concurrent Finance Officer and Director of Information Systems roles in 2021.
• 2022 to October 2025
  Saginaw County 911 Executive Director. Operations and strategy for a larger consolidated dispatch center serving Saginaw County.
• October 2025 to present
  Sales Engineer at Prepared. Pre-sales technical work on next-generation 911 audio, video, and incident-data tools for public safety answering points.

Education

Chris holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University, awarded Magna Cum Laude. He completed the Certified Public Manager program at Saginaw Valley State University. Both programs are anchored in mid-Michigan and reflect a regional career path rooted in Bay and Saginaw counties.

Recognition

Chris served as president of the Michigan Communications Directors Association in 2020 and as the association's treasurer from 2024 through October 2025. He was named Michigan APCO Director of the Year in 2021 for his work at Bay County 911. In 2022 he was a national APCO International Emergency Communications Center nominee. These honors reflect peer recognition from working 911 directors and dispatch professionals across the state and nationally.

Civic service

Chris is a board member of Save Our Shoreline, a Bay City riparian rights advocacy organization led by president Ernie Krygier. Save Our Shoreline focuses on lakeshore property rights, navigable water access, and Great Lakes legal and policy questions specific to Saginaw Bay and the Michigan shoreline.
